LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned social media platform, recently announced the addition of 10 new language options, including support for four Indian languages. The newly added languages are Vietnamese, Persian, Greek, Hebrew, Finnish, and Hungarian, while the new Indian languages are Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi, and Telugu. LinkedIn already supports Hindi, bringing the total number of supported Indian languages to five.
With these additions, LinkedIn now supports 26 languages globally, aiming to help professionals worldwide connect, communicate, and collaborate more effectively. Tomer Cohen, LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer, emphasized that this move broadens the platform’s accessibility, allowing more users to engage in their native languages.
To change the language on LinkedIn, users can open the website or app on their device, navigate to ‘Settings & Privacy’, or click on the ‘Language’ link located in the footer of the page. While this will modify the language of certain elements, it is important to note that not all languages are supported for LinkedIn Ads, products, the Help Center, customer service, and on the mobile app.
Currently, LinkedIn has more than 135 million members in India, with the platform experiencing a 20% increase in engagement each year. This makes India LinkedIn’s second-largest and fastest-growing market.
With this, LinkedIn brings the total number of supported Indian languages on the platform to five and a total of 26 languages.
