After Meta's flagship platforms Facebook and Instagram experienced a worldwide outage on Tuesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his net worth drop by almost $3 billion in a single day. The outage, which lasted for about an hour, resulted in Meta shares decreasing by 1.6%, contributing to the decline in Zuckerberg's net worth. On Tuesday night, users of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads encountered difficulties accessing these social media platforms.
According to a news agency, the status dashboard of Meta showed the application programming interface for WhatsApp Business was also facing issues. On Downdetector, tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources, including users, there were almost 200 reports of outages for WhatsApp.
Numerous Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Messenger users faced login issues and the issues were reported across the globe.
During the outage, the Instagram and Facebook users reported encountering "failure to load" error pages. Some Instagram users noted that they could still view older stories despite the error. However, many Facebook accounts were automatically logged out during the outage.
