McAfee’s New Security App Alert Users of theft or loss of devices
As part of its mobile innovations app portfolio, designed to provide enhanced protection for consumers against loss or theft of mobile devices, McAfee has released Smart Perimeter Beta feature. Smart Perimeter created jointly by Intel and McAfee is designed to track and alert the user immediately regarding its missing Android smartphone or tablet which has moved of the pre-defined range.
“The McAfee Mobile Innovations app will help us to obtain users’ input on device and web security, as well as strengthen anti-theft and privacy measures to protect personal data,” said Lianne Caetano, Director of Consumer Mobile Product Marketing, McAfee.
McAfee Mobile Innovations app suite addresses a variety of threats to users on mobile devices with features including Smart perimeter, Safe QR Code Reader and Data Vault. By linking multiple devices together using Smart Perimeter, users can be alerted when they are separated by more than 30 feet via an alarm helping consumers to quickly identify and recover their devices. QR codes alerts users of malicious codes at the point of scanning. And with the data vault pin, users private photos, videos and documents can be protected.
The McAfee Mobile Innovations features are currently in public beta in English and will allow users to test and provide feedback via email or community forum to the McAfee Mobile Security team in order to shape and enhance future versions of the app.
