Meditations on IT Support: 3 Things That Are "Better Together" in the Work-from-Anywhere Era
2021-03-13
It’s been 4 weeks since my toddler returned to daycare. As most parents working at home with young children can attest to, the WFH experiment was not without challenges. Working parents have seen their commutes disappear along with the boundaries between work and personal life. Many of us tackled hands-on parenting with non-stop GoToMeetings and pinging Slack messages. Or if you were lucky like me, you had someone to watch over your kids while you worked heads down in your home office hoping not to hear the pitter-patter of little feet coming up the stairs.
My first-hand experience not so shockingly revealed that parenting and working simultaneously are not the best arrangement. But it has unearthed some things that truly are better together, both inside the world of IT support and outside of it. Here are my top 3 things trending now in the Better Together category:
Comfy Sweats & a Smart Top
As remote workers settled into the day-to-day of video conference calls from their kitchen table, couch, or home office, Walmart saw increased sales for tops, but not bottoms. Remember this guy from ABC? I’ll admit, I’ve done a few webinars over the last few months in yoga pants and silk blouses.
Dual Monitors (If you can get your hands on them.)
As the workforce transitioned from the office to the home, many of us packed up our essentials believing this retreat was a temporary situation. Fast forward, and most of us are converts to the work-from-anywhere lifestyle. I was lucky to find a second monitor in an online yard sale for $15. Immediately, I felt more like my former self and far more productive as a result.
And Finally, Proactive & Reactive IT Support
The pandemic has resulted in a shift away from single-point solutions towards a holistic IT Support model that incorporates both proactive and reactive IT support. By combining proactive and reactive support methods with Rescue and LogMeIn Central, you can ensure security coverage and support for your entire IT infrastructure.
Our mutual customers tell us that by leveraging both these tools they can close IT gaps that weren’t as obvious or painful until the pandemic hit. They use Central to make sure their endpoints stick to a plan – with respect to security, software versions, anti-virus, patching etc. – and put their trust in Rescue when things don’t go according to plan and they need to troubleshoot quickly in real-time.
We also believe the combination is quite powerful. But see for yourself. LogMeIn is now offering Rescue customers a 60-day FREE trial of our Central offering. Here’s what that entails:
Protect and Secure Your Endpoint Infrastructure with Central
- Background Access – Access computers and perform maintenance to any computer without end user interruption and without accessing the end users’ screen.
