Meta announces Workplace platform with WhatsApp
Meta announced that it will be integrating its Workplace tool with WhatsApp in 2022, building even closer ties between the two platforms.
The new feature will allow organizations to deliver important messages to their staff directly over WhatsApp, avoiding delays inherent to services like email that are checked less frequently by frontline workers.
The company says the integration is designed to make it easier for companies to reach their employees, especially frontline workers whose jobs involve dealing with customers out in the field.
It expands the usage potential of WhatsApp, which Meta is continually working to further integrate into more interactive elements, with a view to making it a more essential connective app. It also provides another avenue for sharing key updates and news, improving information flow.
Ujjwal Singh, Workplace's Head of Product, said, “At Workplace, we strongly believe that the most successful organizations empower their frontline employees to make a difference and listen to their ideas. Our integration with WhatsApp is designed to help fix that: Helping bring frontline employees closer to their organizations and ensuring the information they need to do their jobs is at their fingertips.”
Workplace now has more than 7 million paid subscribers, and with more and more organizations moving to flexible working arrangements, it presents an ideal vehicle, in many cases, for facilitating remote work.
