A delegation from Micron India met Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on November 30 at his official residence to discuss the establishment of a semiconductor plant in Gujarat. The Micron team presented opportunities for skilled engineers, technicians, and operators from Rajasthan to be employed at the new facility.
Chief Minister Sharma recognized the growing talent of Rajasthan’s youth, noting their increasing presence in various sectors due to technical and higher education. He directed state officials to facilitate an agreement between Micron India and the state’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). This partnership aims to develop training modules and provide local youth with employment opportunities at the semiconductor plant.
The Micron delegation emphasized the company's global presence, with plants in several countries, offering additional career opportunities for Rajasthan's skilled workforce. The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for Micron's commitment to investing in skill development programs within the state.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary for Industries and Commerce; Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary for the Chief Minister’s Office; and Siddharth Sihag, Joint Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office. On the Micron side, Gursharan Singh, Global Head of Assembly and Test Operations, and Director Amarinder Sidhu were present.
This discussion precedes the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, scheduled for December 9-12 in Jaipur, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event. Chief Minister Sharma reviewed the preparations for the summit, which will focus on attracting investment and boosting the state’s economic growth. Accompanied by Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, he instructed officials overseeing event logistics to ensure everything is in place for the summit.
