Microsoft has announced a significant investment of $7.16 billion to establish new data centers in northeastern Spain. This investment aims to enhance Microsoft's cloud infrastructure and expand its data center footprint in Europe.
Microsoft will develop new data centres in Spain's northeastern region of Aragon. The regional government of Aragon, which is becoming a major cloud computing hub within Europe, said the U.S. tech giant had applied for a construction permit to build data centres at a site outside the city of Zaragoza. The company's investment will be spread out over 10 years, the regional government said.
The new data centers will support a range of cloud services and solutions, catering to the growing demand for digital transformation and technological advancements in the region.
This strategic move underscores Microsoft's commitment to providing robust, scalable, and secure cloud services to businesses and organizations in Spain and beyond.
The investment is expected to create new opportunities for innovation, job creation, and economic growth in the region, further solidifying Microsoft's presence in the European cloud market.
