A mysterious gold-coloured chariot that washed ashore at the Sunnapalli Sea Harbour in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam amid turbulence due to Cyclone Asani, was dragged out by the residents on Tuesday.
The sub-inspector (SI) of Naupada in the Srikakulam district said, "It might have come from another country. We have informed the intelligence and higher officials.”
Meanwhile, Cyclone Asani finally made landfall between Machilipatnam and Narsapuram in Andhra Pradesh late on Wednesday night after weakening into a deep depression, the State Disaster Management Authority said. It has already claimed three lives and damaged ho\rticulture and paddy crops in thousands of acres.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rains accompanied by qually winds continued in parts of Rayalaseema region and coastal AP on Thursday even as cyclonic storm Asani weakened into a low-pressure area after crossing the coast between Machilipatnam and Narsapur on Wednesday evening.
Andhra Pradesh earlier issued a 'red' warning for the coast. Nine teams of both SDRF and NDRF have been deployed for relief operations.
The cyclone triggered heavy rains in several places across the state. The capital city of Visakhapatnam received heavy rains as the storm approached the Andhra coast.
