Noel Tata dropped his executive responsibilities at the Tata Group and stepped down as the managing director of Tata International after turning 65, in line with the retirement policy for senior personnel.
However, Noel will continue in a non-executive position as chairman of Tata Trent, Tata Investment Corp, Voltas and Tata International. He is also the Vice Chairman of Titan.
Officials said Noel Tata is poised to play a major strategic role across all boards including Trent, Voltas and Titan. He is also likely to be more active in the Tata Trusts.
Noel Tata has been working behind the scenes, with additional responsibilities such as being Vice President of Titan and joining the Board of Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
Under Noel Tata, Trent got noticed by investors on account of the growth in its retail network and profit track record. The Trent stock has been one of the outperformers in the Tata Group in recent years.
