Recent events suggest that OnePlus has left the Indian smart TV industry, as evidenced by the withdrawal of TV models from its official website. This action is consistent with past rumours that OnePlus and Realme were leaving the TV industry. With this change, Xiaomi maintains its market-leading position as established names like Sony and Samsung grow in popularity.
Having ventured into the television domain in 2019 with the introduction of the OnePlus TV Q1 series, OnePlus subsequently expanded its offerings with multiple smart TV models catering to various price segments in India. However, the absence of any new TV releases since last year and the removal of all the old models from the OnePlus India website has raised eyebrows, signaling a potential reevaluation of the brand's product portfolio.
Despite the removal of such devices from its website, OnePlus has not issued an official statement confirming its exit from the smart TV market in India. India Today has reached out to OnePlus for clarification on the matter, and the company declined to comment on this.
The move comes amidst a broader trend in the industry, with reports suggesting that Realme, another subsidiary of BBK Electronics, has also ceased production and sales of its smart TVs in India. Although, OnePlus and Realme TVs are listed on third-party e-commerce platforms. They might be the last ones from the brand.
Despite potential adjustments in its home product lineup, OnePlus remains a dominant force in India's smartphone market. According to Counterpoint Research's Monthly India Smartphone Tracker, OnePlus exhibited remarkable growth, emerging as the fastest-growing brand in Q2 2023 with a staggering 68 percent year-on-year increase.
