The software giant Oracle(NYSE) is planning yet another acquisition. According to a latest update, this time Oracle is planning to buy DataRaker.
Founded in 2007, DataRaker is a software company focused on big data tools for gas, water and electric utilities.
It is reportedly said that DataRaker's technology will be combined with Oracle's application offerings for utilities. DataRaker will reportedly help customers to shorten the time they take to handle calls, cut the number of field service appointments and give customers more personalized information.
According to Oracle representative, DataRaker's staff will be rolled into Oracle Utilities. Its software is deployed at a number of utilities, covering more than 17 million smart meters.
Industry experts added that the latest acquisition will facilitate Oracle to provide analytics for utilities investing in smart meter infrastructure and other devices.
