OYO, a global leader in travel technology, has announced its acquisition of G6 Hospitality, the operator of the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, from Blackstone Real Estate for $525 million. This acquisition marks a significant step in OYO's strategy to expand its footprint, particularly in North America.
The deal is expected to positively impact OYO’s financials, with projections indicating an increase in EBITDA to over ₹2,000 crore ($238 million) by FY26. Motel 6 alone is expected to contribute ₹630 crore ($75 million) to OYO’s EBITDA in the first full year following the integration.
As part of the deal, OYO has added around 1,500 franchised hotels across the US and Canada to its portfolio, broadening its North American reach. The combined entity is anticipated to generate a Gross Booking Value of $3 billion, with G6 Hospitality contributing $1.7 billion of that total.
OYO has also been aggressively growing its presence in Europe through strategic acquisitions under its OYO Vacation Homes (OVH) division. The company now oversees more than 184,000 properties across Europe, the US, UK, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, with Europe standing out as one of OYO’s key markets.
In 2019, OYO acquired DanCenter, a vacation home management company operating 12,000 properties across Scandinavia and Germany. Since then, DanCenter has experienced rapid growth, doubling its revenue and market presence. OYO's OVH division also includes Belvilla, which manages 65,000 holiday homes across 20 countries, and Traum-Ferienwohnungen, an online vacation rental platform with 100,000 properties.
OYO has further strengthened its European position with acquisitions such as Direct Booker in Croatia (3,200 homes) in 2022 and CheckMyGuest, a premium vacation rental company in Paris.
Looking ahead, OYO plans to enhance operational efficiency and guest experiences with a dedicated team of 300 product specialists, ensuring continued growth and innovation across its expanding portfolio.
