Panasonic India, along with the Society for All Round Development (SARD), has announced the inauguration of its agricultural support project at Jhajjar with the objective of benefiting farmers to produce more by helping them adopt a sustainably intensified agricultural production process.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were Gayathri Vasudevan, CEO, LabourNet; Sudhir Bhatnagar, CEO, SARD;  Vivek Prakash, Head - CSR, Jubilant Life Sciences; Adarsh Mishra, Head - HR;  Mayank Shrivastava, DGM - HR, Panasonic India; and Radhika Kalia, Head - Corporate Affairs & Sustainability.

The aim of this project is to promote production and enable use of clean energy from recycling wastes, ensure higher cattle productivity, preserve soil nutrition and encourage best practices in agriculture by supporting organic farming. Panasonic is aiming at setting up ten demonstration sites by FY 14-15. These demonstration sites will mainly be set up with three focus areas in mind, including a Bio Gas model primarily suited for families of 6-7 members. This model reduces fuel consumption costs and also provides home lighting solutions. Secondly, vermicompost production which leads to a 100% organic output and helps in soil improvement due to lesser use of chemicals and fertilizers. Thirdly, the NAAND model will provide continuous drinking water supply to cattle without human interface which will intern help in increasing milk production over a period of time. This structure would also provide more productive time, especially to female members of the family who otherwise are mostly occupied with feeding the cattle.
