The Hon’ble President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, has launched several path-breaking initiatives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), including SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds), at the National Convention on Digital Initiatives for Higher Education in New Delhi.
SWAYAM is an online learning platform developed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is India’s largest, free and on-demand content-based education portal, aimed at offering lifelong learning for students from all walks of life. This self-study web resource for students is expected to bridge the gap in access to quality education among students, including the most disadvantaged.
The platform will host hundreds of courses and hours of learning: covering school, under-graduate, postgraduate, engineering, law and other professional courses. What also makes it unique is the fact that students will be able to access content created by expert educators from practically any connected device whether it is a smartphone, a PC or a tablet – anytime, anywhere and learn at their own pace.
Microsoft is humbled to be recognized by the President of India for its contribution to SWAYAM, a platform that will democratize education in the country, and is immensely proud to power it with its technology.
