RailTel Corporation of India Limited received a purchase order from the Ministry of Railways valued at approximately ₹334.52 crore for upgrading e-Office instances across Zonal Railways and Administrative Units to Version 7.x, along with mandatory implementation of Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) and eSign integration. The order strengthens RailTel’s government technology services portfolio, improves medium-term revenue visibility, and reinforces its position as a key digital infrastructure partner for the Ministry of Railways.
The project is to be executed over five years, with a completion deadline of June 22, 2031.
Zonal Railways handle enormous volumes of internal communication, approvals, and record-keeping daily. Migrating all of this to a standardized, digitally signed e-Office environment is not a trivial task – it demands careful rollout, system integration, and ongoing support across geographically dispersed units. RailTel, as the Railways’ dedicated telecom and IT PSU, is well-placed to handle precisely this kind of complex, ministry-wide deployment.
Awarding this contract highlights the ongoing emphasis on digital transformation within the Indian Railways. By securing this high-value government contract, RailTel Corporation of India strengthens its order book and demonstrates its capability to execute large-scale technology projects for public sector entities.
Earlier, Railtel Corporation had bagged an order worth ₹15.78 crore from Munitions India for upgrading the Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) bandwidth of existing COMNET 2.0 in all 45 units of the seven Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and Directorate of Ordnance (DoO) in New Delhi.
