Quick commerce startup Blinkit, promoted long-time Executive Rishi Arora to Co-Founder level. The company also appointed former Zomato Executive Sajal Gupta as the CTO of the company. Rishi Arora has been with Blinkit for over eight years and held the position of Senior Vice President of operations before his promotion.
Meanwhile, Sajal Gupta was associated with Zomato for five years before moving to Blinkit in January. Currently, Zomato is in the middle of closing its $578 million deal to acquire Blinkit.
According to the deal, the shareholders of Blinkit will get about 7% in Zomato at 70.76 per share. The transaction is expected to close by early August. Blinkit had a revenue of Rs 22.1 crore in January, its first month of operation as a fully quick commerce business, jumping to Rs 58 crore as of May.
The elevation of Rishi Arora comes after Blinkit Co-Funder Saurabh Kumar exited the company in June last year, to start another company called Warpli, which delivers everything - from groceries to electronics - in 30 minutes.
