Ahead of the Barcelona gathering, global tech brands unveiled modular laptops, AI-powered devices, smart mobility products, and robotic concepts, setting the stage for a showcase focused on artificial intelligence, connectivity, and next-generation consumer experiences.
As the global technology community gathers for Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, major electronics brands have begun unveiling new products and prototypes that signal the industry’s next wave of innovation. Organised by the GSMA, the event runs from March 2 to March 5 in Barcelona, bringing together smartphone makers, telecom operators, chip manufacturers, and digital ecosystem players to discuss emerging trends and launch new technologies.
Lenovo experiments with modular AI devices
Lenovo showcased a range of concept devices centered on flexibility and artificial intelligence. The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept features detachable components, swappable ports, and a secondary display that can function independently or attach to the main screen. The Legion Go Fold Concept gaming device stood out with its expandable flexible display, which unfolds from a compact form into a larger immersive screen, complemented by detachable controllers. Lenovo also introduced an AI Work Companion, a smart desk device designed to sync schedules, monitor screen time, and promote healthier productivity habits. The company clarified that these remain experimental prototypes without confirmed commercial timelines.
Xiaomi expands consumer and mobility portfolio
Xiaomi presented an expansive lineup spanning smartphones, smart accessories, and electric mobility. A special Leica edition smartphone marked a milestone collaboration celebrating the camera maker’s centenary, featuring premium materials and enhanced photography controls. Xiaomi also introduced the Electric Scooter 6 Ultra, offering high peak power and extended range, along with a slim magnetic power bank and a compact tracking device compatible with major location networks. Adding to the excitement, Xiaomi previewed its Vision Gran Turismo electric hypercar concept, developed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, integrating interactive lighting and intelligent driving features.
Honor reinvents itself with AI robotics
Honor positioned itself as an AI-driven hardware innovator by unveiling a humanoid robot designed for service roles and a “Robot Phone” equipped with a 200-megapixel camera mounted on a robotic arm. The device supports gesture-based interaction, subject tracking, and synchronized motion features, highlighting Honor’s ambition to blend robotics, artificial intelligence, and consumer electronics as MWC 2026 unfolds.
