Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the release of her much anticipated film Shaakuntalam, in which the actor essays the role of Shakuntala.
According to reports, Shaakuntalam’s production team spent a whopping Rs 3 crore on Samantha’s jewellery used in the mythological romantic drama designed by Vasundhara Diamond Roof. Reportedly, Samantha also shot for her role wearing a 30-kilogram saree and that too for 1 week.
Based on Kalidasa's acclaimed Sanskrit play Abhigyanam Shakuntalam, Shaakuntalam revolves around the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant, portrayed by Samantha and Dev Mohan, respectively. The film is written and directed by award-winning filmmaker Gunasekhar (Rudhramadevi) and is all set to hit the theatres on February 17, 2023.
The film will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Samantha was recently seen in the sci-fi thriller film 'Yashoda' which received positive responses from the audience. She will be next seen in an upcoming romantic film 'Khusi' opposite actor Vijay Deverakonda and in the Indian adaptation of the American series 'Citadel' alongside Varun Dhawan.
