Sarovar Hotels & Resorts’ CTO Harish Chandra has been recently elected into the HTNG (Hospitality Technology Next Generation) Board of Governors.
In 2005 hotel chains were using more than 50 interface systems, unlike in other industries where they use one SAP, one application where data goes from one point to the point. In 2005, HTNG estimated that more than USD 25 billion was spent annually on IT solutions worldwide. So, they created a group and they told all the vendors that they would create a standard for the industry.”
Chandra said he was honoured to be chosen and thanked HTNG CEO Michael Blake and COO David Sjolander. Sjolander briefed about the organisation's reach in India. Election of Chandra to the HTNG Board of Governors is a step in that direction. Chandra joins 24 other senior hospitality executives from 13 countries.
Sjolander said, “As a trade association, the volunteer board has the ultimate responsibility for oversight and strategic direction of the company. Harish (Chandra) will also help us evangelise HTNG and expand our membership and activities in India. Harish will have the opportunity to volunteer for several sub-committees once he becomes more familiar with the organisation. The Board also holds monthly Focus Groups with HTNG members, which Harish will be invited to join.”
Visitors from India tend to be the second highest of any country on the HTNG website, despite that fact that they have had no presence there until now.
