Often called the “King of Bollywood,” Shah Rukh Khan’s $1.4B fortune stems from film success, endorsements, global real estate, and major stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment and Knight Riders Sports, reflecting India’s shift toward IP-driven wealth creation
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has officially become a billionaire, marking a major milestone in his illustrious career and joining the ranks of the world’s wealthiest celebrities. The 59-year-old actor’s fortune is now estimated at $1.4 billion, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, placing him among global stars like Rihanna, Tiger Woods, Taylor Swift, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Beyond the silver screen: Strategic investments drive wealth
Often hailed as the “King of Bollywood,” Khan’s financial ascent extends well beyond his film career. A significant portion of his wealth stems from his ownership stakes in Red Chillies Entertainment, his production house, and Knight Riders Sports, which owns teams in the Indian Premier League and other global T20 cricket leagues.
“Khan’s rise to billionaire status reflects the new wealth dynamics emerging in India, where entertainment and IP-driven enterprises are becoming powerful engines of value,” said Anas Rahman Junaid, founder of Hurun India. The actor’s income is also bolstered by endorsements, global real estate holdings, and decades of box office success.
Junaid noted that India’s economic landscape is evolving, mirroring trends seen in Western economies where entertainers and sports personalities increasingly top rich lists once dominated by industrialists and financiers.
Bollywood’s wealthiest and India’s growing billionaire class
Khan now leads a small group of Bollywood figures on the Hurun list. His longtime collaborator Juhi Chawla and her family follow with a net worth of $880 million. Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, and Amitabh Bachchan also feature, with estimated fortunes ranging from $183 million to $260 million.
In a notable deal last year, Johar sold 50% of Dharma Productions to vaccine tycoon Adar Poonawalla for $119 million.
India’s total number of billionaires has now surpassed 350, with Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani retaining their positions at the top of the list.
Shah Rukh Khan’s inclusion signals not just personal success, but a broader shift in how wealth is being created in modern India—where cultural capital is proving as valuable as industrial might.
