As part of its new AI features, Snapchat users will now be able to toggle between their personal and public accounts, depending on whether they want their profiles to be visible to just their approved friends or a wider audience. The new and simplified profile design aims to simplify the Snapchatter experience by organising the app around what we use our phones for most: communication, taking pictures, and entertainment.
One of the highly anticipated features is the Snap AI Video tool, which enables creators to generate videos from text prompts. Currently in beta and available to a limited group of users on the web, this tool leverages Snap's proprietary video models and includes safeguards to prevent harmful content creation. Each AI-generated video will be marked with a watermark to clearly differentiate it from user-generated content, enhancing transparency and trust.
Snapchat is also enhancing its generative AI assistant, My AI, with improved capabilities for interpreting complex Snaps. Users can now take photos of text in foreign languages, and My AI will translate them, facilitating easier communication across language barriers. This feature aims to make interactions more seamless and accessible for users worldwide.
The enhancing features to allow existing Snaps to have captions and introducing Lenses that incorporate this capability. The platform will also launch an AI-powered Lens that predicts users' appearances in the future, similar to TikTok's old-age filter. Additionally, users can now opt to appear in AI-generated images alongside their friends, expanding creative possibilities for sharing and engaging with content.
To address Data Privacy, Snapchat is enhancing user privacy and profile management by allowing users aged 16 and older to switch between personal and public accounts. This feature gives users control over their profile visibility, enabling them to choose whether to share their content with approved friends or a broader audience. This change aims to streamline user interaction and organization, emphasizing the platform's core functionalities of communication, photography, and entertainment.
Snapchat is set to launch new interactive features, including a Lip Syncing Lens that lets users lip sync to thousands of tracks from its Sounds library. The NYX Beauty Bestie Lens has also been upgraded with generative AI for personalized beauty recommendations.
Additionally, Snap has introduced the Snap Star Collab Studio, aimed at fostering partnerships between content creators and brands by allowing creators to share engagement metrics and demographic insights. The platform has seen a surge in public postings by creators, tripling in the past year, and boasts over 850 million global users, with a significant portion aged 18 and older.
These updates highlight Snapchat's commitment to enhancing user experience and supporting its vibrant creator community.
