They can create simple and effective software products in areas such as mobile applications, healthcare and education. There is an urgent need on the part of software product companies to partner with the government in areas such as security. Advantage for companies in buying domestic products is the support service and their ability to micro-customize almost each and every product.
After collecting nearly Rs.67,718.9 crore for the 3G spectrum auction, auction of the spectrum of Broadband Wireless Acess (BWA) that fetched Rs.38,543.31 crore saw a remarkably unknown “Infotel Broadband Services” (now attracting controlling investment by Reliance) picking up a pan-India licence by winning licences in all 22 circles, while Aircel bagging 7 slots, Tikona pocketing 5 slots, Qualcomm and Bharti 4 each, and Augere 1. According to experts, it is the BWA that holds out the promise of being a game changer for India.
The carrier equipment industry, one of the three components of the telecom equipment industry, showed a steady growth of 21%, clocking Rs.89,476 crore (nearly $19 billion), driven by high growth of wireless infrastructure, WiMax, transmission and broadband infrastructure.
