In a surprising move, the Japanese electronics giant Sony has stopped producing its PlayStation 2 consoles in Japan.
According to Sony Computer Entertainment Inc’s Japan website, shipments have already been "completed" for the hardware of PS2. It is worth noticing here that Sony has sold more than 150 million units worldwide since PlayStation 2 (PS2)’s launch in 2000. The amazing sales record made PS2 the selling console of all time.
Considering the fact that Sony’s next-generation gaming console PlayStation 4 is in the pipeline, the decision to stop making PlayStation 2 was quite expected, industry experts added. Well! Sony has not announced anything officially. So, it is difficult to say anything for now. You have to wait to get more updates on this. Till then, stay tuned.
