Spotify has introduced a new feature that lets users create more personalised playlists. The feature is exclusive to Premium subscribers, and will allow them to adjust preset options such as fade, blend, and rise. To use this feature, the user has to open any playlist and select “Mix” from the toolbar. To make it easy for new audio mixers, Spotify will automatically display the key and beats per minute for each track.
The tool is currently rolling out in beta. Spotify says it is for “eligible Premium users” but has not specified the criteria for who gets it first. Spotify also says that Premium users can also collaborate with each other to create mixed playlists.
With users having access to Premium membership, they can toggle their transitions on and off with a simple press of the Mix button.
This lets users instantly hear the original playlist without the DJ magic. The feature is a powerful new way to level up the listening experience and finally prove the users’ skills on the digital turntables.
It sounds like an easy way to experiment with basic audio mixing features before getting to grips with more extensive mixing software such as Apple Logic Pro, Reaper, or Audacity.
Interestingly, Apple Music has been offering a similar, but a much simpler version since iOS 26. The AutoMix on Apple Music automatically creates smooth transitions between subsequent songs. However, it’s fully automated and lacks Spotify’s manual waveform editing.
