The Supreme Court of India has sounded an alert about a phishing attack on its website, warning the public against fraudulent websites impersonating its official portal. In an official advisory, the Supreme Court registry disclosed that attackers are using fake URLs to trick users into providing confidential details. “The Registry strongly advises the public to refrain from sharing personal or financial information on these platforms,” the notice stated, adding that such data could be exploited for malicious activities.

The court clarified that its official domain is www.sci.gov.in and urged citizens to verify any URL before engaging with it. The registry further emphasized that the court never solicits personal or financial information from users, urging vigilance to avoid falling victim to online security threats.

Phishing, a cybercrime method, involves creating fake websites or emails that mimic legitimate entities to deceive people into sharing private information. Such scams often result in identity theft, financial fraud, and breaches of sensitive data.
