IPO-bound Swiggy has launched "Bolt," its new 10-minute food delivery service, starting with six cities—Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, and Pune. Designed to cater to the growing demand for faster food deliveries, Swiggy’s Bolt will offer a selection of popular dishes such as burgers, beverages, breakfast items, and biryani that require minimal preparation time.
The introduction of Bolt is part of Swiggy's ongoing effort to stay competitive in the fast-paced food delivery market, where speed is a critical factor for customer satisfaction. By offering faster delivery options, Swiggy aims to attract more users, retain existing customers, and enhance the convenience of its service. This new feature could also help Swiggy stand out from competitors like Zomato, especially in highly saturated urban markets where quick service is a top priority for users.
According to Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, Ten years ago, they revolutionised food delivery by cutting and with Bolt they are setting new standards. The service will gradually expand to more locations based on customer feedback.
Swiggy has partnered with over 2,700 restaurants, including global chains such as KFC, McDonald's, and Starbucks, to offer quick-to-prepare items to customers for delivery under Bolt. The service focuses on reducing wait times for frequently ordered items like coffee, burgers and biryani.
Notably, Swiggy has emphasized that its delivery partner will not face penalties or receive incentives based on Bolt order timings. For Swiggy’s delivery partners, Bolt orders are treated like any other order, as they are not informed of the distinction between Bolt and regular orders.
