Tata Communications has announced the acquisition of a 51% stake in US-headquartered AI SaaS company Commotion for ₹227 crore, marking a strategic move to accelerate its AI-driven digital transformation capabilities. The investment reinforces Tata Communications’ ambition to embed artificial intelligence deeply across its digital platforms, with a particular focus on transforming customer interactions for global enterprises.
Commotion specialises in AI-powered customer engagement, leveraging advanced conversational intelligence, automation, and sentiment analytics to help businesses enhance user experiences across digital channels. Its cloud-native SaaS platform enables large-scale enterprises to streamline customer journeys, identify intent, and deliver hyper-personalised communication in real time.
With this acquisition, Tata Communications aims to integrate Commotion’s capabilities into its existing product portfolio, including its Customer Interaction Suite, Contact Centre as a Service (CCaaS) offerings, and global communication platforms. The move is expected to strengthen the company’s position in the high-growth AI customer experience market, which continues to expand rapidly as organisations shift to automation-first engagement models.
Tata Communications noted that the acquisition is aligned with its long-term strategy of building a unified, AI-powered digital fabric for enterprises. By combining Commotion’s AI engines with its global network, cloud, and mobility services, Tata Communications plans to deliver more intelligent, predictive, and data-driven customer experience solutions.
This marks the latest step in Tata Communications’ broader push to scale AI adoption across its services portfolio, enabling enterprises to improve operational efficiency, reduce workload on support teams, and offer faster, more intuitive customer interactions. The company expects the integration to drive significant innovation and competitive differentiation in the global digital engagement ecosystem.
