Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is making one of its biggest infrastructure bets as its subsidiary HyperVault, together with partners, plans to invest up to ₹700 billion ($7.41 billion) in a massive AI data center campus in Telangana. The project signals TCS’s ambition to expand beyond traditional IT services and capture growing demand for AI computing infrastructure.
HyperVault has secured 264 acres in Hyderabad for the development, which will be built in phases. At full capacity, the campus is expected to deliver 1 gigawatt of computing infrastructure, potentially placing it among India’s largest AI-focused data center facilities.
The campus will target AI companies and hyperscalers, providing infrastructure capable of supporting high-density GPU deployments required for training and running increasingly sophisticated AI models. Such workloads demand enormous computing capacity, power availability, advanced cooling and highly resilient data center architecture.
TCS CEO K Krithivasan said Hyderabad provides the scale, technology talent and broader ecosystem required to support global customers. The investment also strengthens Telangana’s position as an emerging hub for hyperscale data centers, cloud infrastructure and AI-led digital services.
The announcement reflects a bigger transformation underway at TCS. It follows the company’s agreement to acquire Porsche AG’s automotive technology and consulting unit MHP, as TCS broadens its portfolio beyond conventional outsourcing. The HyperVault investment represents an important strategic shift—from providing technology services to building the physical infrastructure powering the AI economy. As demand for GPUs and AI inference accelerates, computing capacity itself is becoming a critical competitive asset.
