Designed to enhance both user experience and business capabilities, Telegram has rolled out a range of exciting new features, such as a gifting feature, a verification platform for businesses, improvements to the reporting interface, redesigned video chats on iOS and new live-streaming capabilities on Android. These features will be available to your device through the messaging app’s latest update.
Gifts: With this update, Telegram users can now send gifts to their contacts in the form of animated artwork, along with personalized messages. These gifts can be displayed on the recipient’s profile in the new ‘Gifts’ tab, or they can be converted into Telegram Stars. Stars can be used across the platform, including for supporting creators and purchasing services in mini apps. Users can send gifts anonymously by selecting the “hide your name” option, while the recipient will still know who the sender is.
Verification Platform: The instant messaging platform has also introduced a new verification platform for businesses, apps and websites. The platform allows businesses to verify customer phone numbers through Telegram’s messaging service, offering a faster, more secure, and cost-effective alternative to traditional SMS methods. Businesses can send verification codes via Telegram at a rate of just $0.01 per user, with the service available for purchase on Fragment. This new option simplifies the verification process while reducing costs.
Improved Reporting Interface: In a bid to further improve its content moderation, Telegram has expanded its reporting interface with more detailed options. Users can now select from dynamically updated reporting reasons, enabling the platform to respond more effectively to real-time trends and violations. This updated reporting system helps Telegram moderators more efficiently process millions of reports each day.
Redesigned Video Chats on iOS: iOS users will benefit from Telegram's fully rebuilt video chat feature. The new design promises increased performance, better battery efficiency and cooler device temperatures, even during long calls with multiple video participants. Users can continue to show their camera and share their screens simultaneously.
RTMP Streams on Android: For Android users, Telegram now supports livestreaming with RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol), allowing users to generate stream keys and integrate video feeds with popular broadcasting tools like OBS Studio and XSplit Broadcaster. This feature was previously available on iOS and Desktop and now expands to Android, enhancing the platform’s livestreaming capabilities.
