The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) Bangalore, in collaboration with Chiratae Ventures and Entrust Family Office, is launching the Family Office Summit at the upcoming TiE Global Summit 2024 in Bangalore. The first edition of the summit will be held on December 11, 2024. This pioneering event is dedicated to encouraging Indian family offices to invest in the nation’s startup ecosystem, offering insights into the "why" and "how" of supporting high-growth startups through local capital. According to a recent report by PwC , the number of family offices in India has grown substantially, increasing from around 45 in 2018 to 300 in 2024. These family offices have a large collective capital under management that can be used to grow their business. Investment in startups is particularly crucial for sectors like deep tech that require sustained funding to reach an impactful scale. By launching this summit, TiE and its partners aim to increase awareness and provide a platform for family offices to explore the untapped potential in India’s startup landscape, with the goal to enable investments from domestic sources in domestic private equity in the next five years.
Sudhir Sethi, Founder and Chairman, Chiratae Ventures said, “In the next 5 years, domestic investment in domestic startups and private companies is a $150B (INR 2 lakh crore) opportunity for family offices. This is a golden opportunity to participate in primary and secondary offerings in companies that will go public in the next 5 years. This is not just about generating super returns but also the opportunity to diversify your business, leverage your expertise and at the same time weave the fabric of sustainable economic growth leading to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. At Chiratae, we are excited to play a role in building this together with TiE and look forward to the Family Offices Summit at TGS24”
The summit will be supported by an advisory board of renowned leaders, including Kris Gopalakrishnan (Co-Founder, Infosys), Prashanth Prakash (Accel), Ankit Nagori (Curefoods), Pavan Ranga (NR Group), Mayurnath K S (Kairos Family Office), Mohit Dhawan (Hero Enterprise), Manish Choksi (Asian Paints), Jai Rupani (Hinduja Family Office), Arihant Patni (Patni Family Office) and Lakshminarayana KR (Azim Premji Foundation). Attendees will benefit from keynote sessions, fireside chats, and panel discussions featuring family office founders, CEOs, and next-generation leaders.
Madan Padaki, President of TiE Bangalore and Chair of TiE Global Summit 2024, emphasised the summit’s mission, stating, “With the Summit’s theme of ‘Putting Entrepreneurship First,’ we are focused on democratising access to resources, knowledge, and opportunities for India’s entrepreneurs. The Family Office Summit will serve as a landmark initiative to not only recognize family offices investing in Indian startups but to educate and inspire others. Through panels, awards, and meaningful discussions, we aim to create an environment where Indian capital supports Indian innovation, aligning with India’s vision of becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. By facilitating this shift, we hope to see a robust, sustainable ecosystem that prioritises domestic capital.”
