Trends in Managed Services Market
2010-05-24IT managed services in India will top US$42 billion in 2015 - up from US$1.6 billion in 2009. CIOs have to share the responsibility of IT infrastructure, the reason being that companies are now more cognizant about the way they spend on the development of infrastructure. One can notice an interesting twist in the telecom and BFSI verticals. In India, from the targeted spending of around US$50 billion in the telecom space by 2015, experts in this segment are working overnight where around 70% will fall in the managed services space. "Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) organizations remain the largest contributors to the managed IT services market with a share of 28.2 per cent, followed by manufacturing and Government verticals."
However, the managed service opportunities in India in the Government segment alone will contribute more than US$20 billion by 2015. The major segments, which will contribute to the managed service space, will be Government, Education, Retail and SMEs. As per a survey conducted by VARIndia, it has been found that there are more than 60-per cent end-users who are willing to offer managed services, but are constrained to do so because of lack of readiness on the part of major system integrators.
Are we moving in tune with the technology momentum to the next step? Is there any opportunity for the business momentum in the next step? How can I save costs to beat competition? These are the serious discussions that are taking place in large and small organizations when there is any investment/ expansion of the IT Department by any organization at the time of deployment.
To beat competition, it is a warning to all the vendors. Please don’t discount the quality of the product for beating competition. The QA department is watching every step on the innovations. There are many large organizations like government and PSUs which are focussing more on the MSP, and MSP at a later stage may get converted to BOT module or can also put on the cloud. That is what we call as Cloud Infrastructure - popularly known as cloud computing.
Now, think-tanks are looking out seriously for hiring people to help promote HaaS (Hardware as a Service) experts to more VARs and MSPs, for Top Managed Service Providers.
Not to worry! We have MS Office 2010 applications, which will be accessible through cloud computing, will find more interesting features here. Till then, we would say: All will be well…
