According to a media report, the social media platform, Twitter, is planning to off 50 workers from its product division in the coming weeks, said sources familiar with the company.
report also reveals that the layoffs may reduce the company’s workforce to below 2,000. This layoff comes six weeks after top boss Elon Musk reportedly told staff that there would not be further retrenchment.
Musk took over Twitter in October and swiftly moved through a number of product and organizational changes. The company rolled out Twitter-verified Blue check-mark as a paid service and also laid off about 50% staff.
In November, Musk said that Twitter was facing "a massive drop in revenue" as advertisers dropped out.
Twitter's revenue for the fourth quarter fell about 35% to $1.025 billion, a top ad executive revealed at a staff meeting, as per news source.
