Intending to help citizens of India, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched three new Aadhaar-enabled services. These will help Indians to authenticate their identity online. The new online services include eKYC (eKnow Your Customer) service, authentication service using Iris and authentication service using one time pin (OTP).
Besides these, UIDAI has also announced the opening of 300 more permanent enrollment centres, called Aadhaar Kendras across India. By September 2013, this number is expected to reach 1,000. These Aadhaar Kendras will specifically help those Indians who have missed out their turns during the camps organized by registrars.
Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, said, "This is a transformational initiative and I am sure the Aam Aadmi will start reaping the benefits of the Aadhaar project in the near future."
These authentication services are made to help Indian residents to avail benefits of economical, secure and flexible mode of verifying user identity.
