Uninor is celebrating the National Sports Week to commemorate the National Sports Day and celebrate the birth anniversary of Indian hockey legend Dhyan Chand. Over 200 Uninor employees across Gurgaon, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Patna, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad participated in the campaign with one clear message - Uninor encourages child’s right to play sports.

Speaking on the occasion, Pooja Thakran, Chief Communication Officer and Head of Corporate Responsibility, Uninor said, “As a responsible organization, Uninor has always promoted initiatives for health and wellness amongst its employees as well as the public at large.  National Sport Day aims to give children an opportunity to kick start a future of healthy living with the sports acting as a main hub.  We need to build a sports culture in the country and should take sports as seriously as the other sporting nation do. With this ideology at its helm, Uninor has organized Sports Day in all its operating circles in order to involve more people in the sports activities. We are proud of the way our employees have responded over the past few days and participated, extremely motivated and register Uninor’s presence”, she added.

For the first time as a part of the celebrations, a weeklong activity was kicked off on the theme of ‘Go Play’across its six operating circles between 21st & 29th August, 2014.  The  volunteers of the Uninor reached out to children in schools, colleagues and children shelters to encourage them to participate in the various sporting events conducted by the Uninor Unites team and  distributed sports gears to under privileged children, and helped restore their sporting infrastructure.
