After Deepika Padukone’s JNU visit created controversy, Bollywood got divided into two sections. One section is those supporting CAA while the other section is the one opposing it.
Among those opposing CAA, Naseeruddin Shah stood by Deepika’s side when she got involved by her fans who decided to boycott her films now and henceforth.
Naseeruddin Shah called Deepika’s step to visit JNU as courageous. While giving an interview, Naseer spoke at length of the CAA protest and also about the silence of some big Bollywood celebrities on it, students protest and Deepika’s decision of solidarity.
While praising Deepika’s step, he also spoke on his ‘A Wednesday’ co star, Anupam Kher, who usually endorses the government and its policies on Twitter.
“Someone like Anupam Kher has been very vocal. I don’t think he needs to be taken seriously. He is a clown. Anyone of his contemporaries from NFD and FTII can attest to his sycophantic nature. It is in his blood, he can’t help it,” he said.
Replying to Naseer’s clown jibe, Anupam Kher posted a video with an apt answer to Naseer.
He said, “I saw your interview about me,” began Kher. He went on to say that he has never passed negative comments about Shah and that he doesn’t take what the latter said, seriously.
“Despite the success you have achieved, you have spent your entire life in frustration. If you can go on to criticize stars like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Virat Kohli, then I am sure, I am in a great company,“ said Kher.
“None of these people took your statements seriously because they all know that it is not you, but the substances talking, because of which you cannot differentiate between right and wrong. And you want to know who I am? A Hindustani”, Kher said proudly.
