2011-05-24
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has unveiled the country's fastest supercomputer called SAGA-220. This supercomputer operates at 220 TFLOPS, making it one of the fastest supercomputers in the world.
Housed at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, it is built on Wipro NetPower Servers powered by combination of NVIDIA Tesla 2070 GPUs and Intel Xeon CPUs to deliver a peak performance of 220 teraflops. Besides, this unique system offers significant advantage in terms of cost, power and space requirements, making it India's first "Green Supercomputer".
Built on Wipro NetPower servers, it further consolidates Wipro's prowess in the supercomputer space with its "Supernova" range, and its entry into an elite club of supercomputer designers. This entry marks not just an important milestone for Wipro but also for the country.
