Zomato will be investing Rs 300 crore into Blinkit as competition heats up with Swiggy and Zepto, according to a filing with the Registrar of Companies. Zomato has already invested Rs 2,300 crore in Blinkit since acquiring it in August 2022 in an all-stock deal.
This strategic investment is expected to enhance Zomato’s capabilities in rapid grocery delivery and expand its market reach. Besides Blinkit, Zomato will also invest Rs 100 crore in its subsidiary Zomato Entertainment Pvt Ltd, which handles live events and ticketing.
This move is designed to counter the growing presence of competitors like Swiggy and Zepto in the quick commerce space. It will strengthen Blinkit’s operations will help Zomato enhance its competitive position and attract a larger customer base by offering faster and more reliable delivery services.
By leveraging Blinkit’s rapid delivery infrastructure and integrating it with Zomato’s existing operations, the company aims to provide a more comprehensive and efficient service to its customers.
This investment is expected to intensify competition, drive market growth, and ultimately enhance the customer experience in the fast-evolving food and grocery delivery landscape.
