In a significant step towards strengthening India’s digital infrastructure, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a strategic agreement with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to jointly develop and scale India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. The partnership focuses on enhancing cloud computing solutions, AI-driven platforms, and data localisation frameworks, enabling enterprises and government agencies to securely and compliantly adopt cloud technologies tailored to national needs.
The collaboration prioritises research and innovation to build indigenous cloud technologies, ensuring that platforms are aligned with India's stringent data protection and localisation policies. These advancements will support critical government applications such as e-Sanjeevani telemedicine, Dial 112 emergency response systems, and central government ministry workloads, offering a trusted infrastructure for public services.
The sovereign cloud stack, based on OpenStack architecture and homegrown technologies, is expected to boost the adoption of cloud solutions across sectors like healthcare, defence, smart cities, and banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI). By reducing dependency on global hyperscale cloud providers, the partnership aims to create a self-reliant and secure cloud ecosystem that meets India’s unique digital requirements.
Girish Ramachandran, President of Growth Markets at TCS, stated, “Our collaboration with C-DAC integrates cutting-edge R&D innovations, public sector expertise, and enterprise cloud solutions to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready platforms that empower India’s digital transformation.”
With a focus on AI-powered analytics, cybersecurity, and cloud interoperability, TCS and C-DAC aim to position sovereign cloud platforms as the cornerstone for digital governance, public sector efficiency, and smart infrastructure development in India’s tech-driven future. This partnership reinforces India’s commitment to becoming a global leader in secure cloud services, data-driven governance, and indigenous technology solutions.
