As millions of devotees and pilgrims gather in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, Airtel has implemented extensive measures to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during the event.
To enhance mobile coverage across the sprawling Kumbh Mela premises and Prayagraj city, Airtel has installed 287 new network sites, optimized over 340 existing ones, and laid an additional 74 kilometers of fiber. Within the mela area itself, which spans several kilometers, the company has deployed 78 active Cell on Wheels (COW) to provide seamless network connectivity. These efforts extend to key areas such as highways, railway stations, the airport, hotels, and other high-footfall zones across the city.
For efficient crisis management, Airtel has set up three war rooms in Jhusi, Arail, and Sangam areas. These facilities are supported by a dedicated disaster management team equipped with generators, diesel, and critical resources to ensure rapid responses in case of network emergencies.
Airtel has also partnered with the Prayagraj Traffic Police to manage the massive influx of attendees. Over 780 kiosks have been established at the venue's entry and exit points to facilitate crowd management and assist visitors. These kiosks display essential safety instructions, ensuring smooth navigation and safety for millions of devotees.
In addition to its efforts for the Maha Kumbh, Airtel has been actively advancing its technology initiatives. Recently, the company launched its 5G services in multiple cities, enabling faster speeds and low-latency connectivity for users. Airtel has also strengthened its IoT (Internet of Things) offerings, supporting smart city projects and enterprise solutions. The company’s foray into artificial intelligence-powered customer service platforms is streamlining support for millions of users, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
With these proactive measures and recent technological advancements, Airtel is not only addressing immediate needs during the Maha Kumbh but also demonstrating its commitment to future-ready infrastructure and innovative connectivity solutions.
