Recently, a report came out that radiation transmitted by cellphones is potentially carcinogenic, based on an increased risk for a malignant type of brain cancer associated with wireless phone use. Just as people aren't going to stay indoors because they are afraid of sun damage, they won't stop using cellphones due to the fear of radiation. At the same time, people tend to ignore another scientific fact that using a Bluetooth (wireless) headset actually reduces exposure to phone radiation. Jabra brand belonging to GN Netcom, which is a global leader in innovative headset solutions, claims that its Hands-Free Devices Permit 800 Times Less Radiation than Cellphones. During the recent trip to India, Ann Goh, Regional Sales Manager, GN Netcom, informed, "People are concerned about radiation from their cellphones, but they don't care enough to stop using them. We are here to inform them that Jabra offers many hands-free devices that provide a solution for concerned consumers who want to lower their own or their children’s exposure to cellphone radiation."
Jabra's product portfolio is broken into four segments - Bluetooth headsets, Stereo & Music, In-car speaker phones and the VoIP. The VoIP is not yet introduced so far. "There can be distractions when driving, but Jabra's In-car speakerphones ensure intelligently access your phone's address book to announce exactly who is calling so you can decide whether or not to take the call without taking your eye off the road. If the caller is unknown, the speakerphone will simply read the number aloud instead," adds Ann Goh.
Not only this, music fans would fall in love seeing the ability to play MP3s stored on their mobile through the In-car speakerphone, and through the car stereo - thanks to the built-in FM transmitter. Tracks can even be remotely controlled from the device with simple play, pause and rewind buttons. And the speakerphone will conveniently fade the music out as a call comes in.
Though, as of now, majority of Indian consumers are still looking for normal Bluetooth headset- enabling voice communication, but Jabra is soon going to enhance its entire range which would play music, besides voice communication. "We are actually not going to work towards the product range but also make them affordable to the customers," she added.
Jabra keeps bundling the headsets with the mobile phone brands. "In fact, this bundling is a continuous affair with BlackBerry, thanks to our distributor." The company runs both consumer- and channel-driven schemes to keep the market momentum. Around festive season, the rollout is more aggressive.
Taking into consideration the country's potential, the company is soon going to announce the national sales manager. Besides their national distributor Redington, he will also take care of the LFR accounts. Shop in Shop concept is also on the cards for them this year.
