Why Salesforce Is Under Pressure in 2026
Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) has faced sustained pressure in 2026, driven by a mix of company-specific concerns and broader market dynamics.
A key factor is guidance, not performance. Despite repeatedly beating quarterly earnings expectations, Salesforce has issued softer-than-expected revenue guidance for upcoming quarters. Markets have responded by rewarding future growth signals over past results, punishing the stock even as historical numbers stay strong.
AI monetization remains a major point of investor skepticism. Salesforce has poured significant resources into its Agentforce AI platform, but investors remain cautious about how quickly these investments will convert into meaningful, sustained revenue and profit.
Competition is intensifying as well. Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic, and a growing field of open-source AI models are all pushing into enterprise AI, creating uncertainty about how much long-term growth traditional enterprise software providers like Salesforce can still capture.
Analyst sentiment has also cooled. Several downgrades followed channel checks indicating that customer adoption of Agentforce is slower than expected, with many enterprises still lacking the data readiness required to deploy AI effectively.
Adding to the pressure, Salesforce has been swept up in a broader software-sector sell-off, as investors reassess AI valuations across the board and rotate toward sectors offering more immediate earnings visibility.
Yet none of this necessarily points to a fundamental problem. Salesforce continues to post double-digit revenue growth, strong cash generation, major enterprise customer wins, and ongoing investment in AI and data infrastructure. The current weakness appears rooted in expectations about future growth rather than any deterioration of the core business — investors are simply waiting for clearer proof that Salesforce's AI bet will pay off.
