Strengthening India’s Chipmaking Capabilities
This state-of-the-art fab will specialize in producing display driver chips essential for smartphones, laptops, automotive dashboards, smart TVs, and a wide range of consumer electronics. With a production capacity of 20,000 wafers per month and the ability to churn out over 36 million chips monthly, the project is expected to significantly enhance India’s display technology ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.
Atmanirbhar Bharat & Job Creation
Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, the plant is projected to create over 2,000 skilled jobs, fueling local employment and upskilling in the electronics and semiconductor sectors. The strategic location in the Delhi-NCR belt provides strong logistical advantages and access to a growing talent pool.
The HCL–Foxconn joint venture signals strong international confidence in India’s semiconductor roadmap. As India aspires to become a global semiconductor hub, this project underlines the country’s rising credibility in the chip manufacturing supply chain, especially for critical components like display ICs.
India’s semiconductor vision extends beyond fab units. Over 270 academic institutions and more than 70 homegrown startups are actively contributing to chip design, semiconductor R&D, and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools. Industry giants such as Applied Materials, Lam Research, and Merck have already set up operations in India, reflecting growing global interest in supporting the country’s tech infrastructure.
