Movers & Shakers

Her appointment not only breaks new ground for Foxconn but also highlights the company’s broader push toward gender diversity in leadership.
Foxconn has appointed Kathy Yang Chiu-chin as its rotating Chief Executive Officer, starting April. This marks a major milestone, as she becomes the first woman to take on this role in the company’s history. Foxconn follows a rotating CEO model, where an executive from one of its six major business sectors—like smartphones, computers, and televisions—is selected to lead for a period. Chiu-chin replaces C C Lin under this system.
The rotating model is designed to give general managers leadership experience at the top level, helping them prepare for larger responsibilities. Foxconn Chairman Young Liu explained that this approach helps build a strong pool of leaders skilled in both management and execution.
During his visit to India in August 2024, Liu shared that Foxconn is committed to promoting more women in leadership roles. In India, women currently make up 30% of Foxconn’s workforce, which was around 48,000 employees as of August 2024. Chiu-chin was also present at the Chennai event where this commitment was emphasized.
