Advancements in AI and machine learning will significantly reshape job markets and the future of work. While automation might displace 85 million jobs by 2025, it could also create 97 million new roles, particularly in tech-centric fields like data science, cybersecurity, and AI ethics consultancy. This shift necessitates a workforce adept in digital skills as businesses increasingly depend on automation and machine learning.
Labour markets will adapt as productivity soars, driven by AI's ability to handle repetitive tasks, thereby freeing humans to focus on more creative and complex activities. This transformation will be evident across various sectors, from manufacturing to services, where automation will enhance efficiency and output.
Economic impacts are profound, with AI potentially contributing an additional $13 trillion to global GDP by 2030, translating to a 16% higher cumulative GDP. Companies will progressively integrate AI, with about 70% expected to adopt some form of AI technology by 2030. However, less than half may fully utilize all AI capabilities. Ultimately, AI's role as a general-purpose technology will drive substantial economic and innovative advancements, fundamentally altering the employment landscape.
