The Kindle update is currently rolling out over-the-air in the US, with an iOS app update coming soon, though Amazon has yet to confirm when the feature will reach other regions
Amazon has begun rolling out a new artificial intelligence-driven tool called Recaps to enhance the reading experience for users of its Kindle devices. This new Kindle AI feature aims to help readers easily recall key storylines and character developments from earlier books in a series.
The Kindle Recap feature provides concise, AI-generated summaries of previous titles, allowing readers to pick up where they left off—without the need to reread earlier volumes. This update directly addresses a common challenge faced by fans of long-running series: the struggle to remember past plot points after a gap between releases.
Currently, the Kindle update is being deployed over-the-air (OTA) in the United States, with a Kindle app update for iOS expected to follow shortly. However, Amazon has not confirmed a timeline for the feature’s availability in other regions.
Feature limited to eligible titles
The book series recap feature is limited to English-language ebooks purchased or borrowed through Amazon’s digital store and officially recognized as part of a series. Sideloaded books or titles from third-party sources, even if they belong to a known series, won’t support the Recaps functionality.
Readers with access to the feature can locate it under the “View Recaps” option on a series page in their Kindle Library or through the three-dot menu within the series grouping. To use it, users must ensure their Amazon Kindle device or app has the latest software installed.
This addition is part of a growing suite of Amazon Kindle features aimed at streamlining and personalizing the digital reading experience. By integrating AI to assist with memory refreshers, Amazon is positioning Kindle as more than just a reading device—it’s becoming a smart reading companion that adapts to user needs.
The Kindle iOS update with Recaps is expected to arrive soon, while global readers await news of broader availability.
