Apple is reportedly working on releasing the next generation of its Vision Pro headset, with a target launch between the fall of 2025 and the spring of 2026. According to reports, the upgraded mixed-reality headset will likely resemble the current Vision Pro design but will feature key internal enhancements, particularly a new processor for improved performance.
Apple is expected to incorporate the upcoming M5 chip in the second-generation Vision Pro, which could be launched alongside new iPad Pro and Mac devices.
Although many were hoping for a more affordable Vision-line headset, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reportedly noted that Apple has put those plans on hold. Instead, Apple may be exploring a different approach to make the Vision experience more accessible: a headset accessory designed to pair with iPhones.
Unlike the standalone Vision Pro, this potential model would consist mainly of a display and battery, relying on a connected iPhone for computing power. This approach could reduce costs, making mixed-reality technology available to a wider audience without sacrificing essential features.
In addition to these developments, Apple is reportedly testing various new concepts for its Vision lineup. While no additional products in the Vision series have been scheduled for release, the second-generation Vision Pro remains on track.
The new Vision Pro may also include upgraded software to support enhanced display options. For instance, visionOS 2.2 will offer Wide and Ultra-Wide display settings for Mac’s Virtual Display, which could integrate seamlessly with the new headset’s capabilities.
With these innovations, Apple aims to refine its approach to mixed reality, delivering a high-performance experience that further establishes its role in the immersive tech market.
