Breaking News

This rise is driven by US-China trade tensions and lower US tariffs on Indian-made phones.
In a major boost to Indian smartphone manufacturing, Apple iPhone production in India surged by 60% in FY25, touching ₹1.89 lakh crore in output, according to Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Of this, ₹1.5 lakh crore worth of iPhones were exported, marking a significant milestone in iPhone manufacturing in India.
This growth in iPhone made in India units reflects a strategic shift driven by escalating US-China trade tensions and favorable US tariff structures on Indian-manufactured smartphones. India’s overall smartphone exports also rose by 54% year-on-year, reaching ₹1.75 lakh crore between April and February.
Apple’s supply chain dominated the export surge. Apple Foxconn India, particularly its Tamil Nadu facility, accounted for 50% of the overseas shipments. Tata Electronics, after acquiring Wistron’s factory in Karnataka, contributed 22%, while Pegatron’s iPhone assembly in India, where Tata holds a 60% stake, added another 12%.
With nearly 99% of domestic smartphone demand now met through local production, India is firmly positioning itself as a global hub for iPhone assembly and high-end electronics manufacturing.
