With the launch of the developer betas for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, Apple marked the introduction of its first set of artificial intelligence (AI) features known as 'Apple Intelligence'. It is reported that the AI suite includes an updated Siri design with enhanced capabilities, smart reply and email summaries in Mail, and natural language search in Photos, among other things.
Some of the AI features such as image generation, Genmoji, and ChatGPT integration are not yet included in iOS 18.1. The features will be added soon.
At present, the developer beta version is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Similarly, the iPadOS 18.1 beta and macOS Sequoia 15.1 are available only for models powered by Apple Silicon M series chips.
For iPhones not eligible for Apple Intelligence, Apple has pushed iOS 18 beta 4. After installing the iOS 18.1 beta update, users must join a waiting list to experience Apple Intelligence.
After Apple’s approval, users need to download models to experience various Apple Intelligence features. Plenty of free storage space is also important for this.
This also means the iPhone 16 series, expected to launch in September, might not come with Apple Intelligence features by default, with these features becoming available at a later date.
