It has been recently announced that Blue Coat Systems is helping Indian enterprises manage the expected high volume of online video traffic on the corporate network during the 2012 London Olympics. Blue Coat PacketShaper and MACH 5 appliances aim to provide the visibility, control and optimisation that enterprises require to mitigate the network impact of live and on-demand video.
AmbarishDeshpande, Managing Director, India sales, Blue Coat, said, "Employees are expected to watch live and on-demand video of the games at work from computers, smart phones or tablets. During the 2012 London Olympics, Indians are expected to tune into hockey, shooting, boxing, wrestling, tennis and football.
"Live and on-demand online video of the 2012 London Olympics will have a major impact on Indian enterprise networks. Businesses that do not have the tools and policy to mitigate this impact may encounter severe disruptions to the network that lower employee productivity and increase IT costs," he said in a press statement.
In India, Olympic Broadcast Services (OBS) will offer over 2,200 hours of live streaming and on-demand highlights of the 2012 London Olympics games on its YouTube channel. Coverage will be delivered over 10 live feeds from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. local time and will include all event finals. Live streaming will be accessible online or on smartphones and other YouTube-enabled devices.
