Blue Dart, a leading express air and integrated transportation and distribution company, has marked a major milestone in its diversity and inclusion journey by onboarding more than 200 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) into full-time, mainstream roles across its operations.
According to the company, the newly hired employees are actively contributing across key functions including sorting centres, customer experience, warehousing, and last-mile delivery support. The initiative reflects Blue Dart’s focus on integrating diverse talent into core business activities rather than limiting inclusion to peripheral or support roles.
The recruitment drive has been undertaken in collaboration with ecosystem partners such as Sarthak Educational Trust. These partnerships have enabled structured skill development programmes, workplace readiness assessments, infrastructure alignment, and continued on-ground support to ensure smooth integration and long-term success of employees with disabilities.
Building an Inclusive Workplace Ecosystem
As part of the programme, Blue Dart has introduced a range of initiatives aimed at creating an enabling and respectful work environment. These include sensitisation workshops for teams, sign-language training, customised workplace adaptations, and role-based enablement frameworks. The company said these measures are designed to equip employees with the tools and confidence required to perform effectively while fostering collaboration across teams.
Blue Dart noted that the inclusion effort is not a one-time initiative. The organisation plans to further strengthen its inclusive hiring pipeline and expects the number of PwDs employed in mainstream roles to increase in the coming year.
Balfour Manuel, Managing Director of Blue Dart, said inclusion is embedded in the company’s values rather than treated as a standalone programme. “True progress begins only when everyone has the opportunity to participate and belong. When Persons with Disabilities join us in mainstream roles, they are not on the margins — they are shaping the core of our business,” he said.
Focus Shifts from Accommodation to Empowerment
Echoing this sentiment, Blue Dart’s Chief Human Resources Officer said the company is focused on moving beyond tokenism. “By integrating diverse talent into core business functions, we shift the conversation from sympathy to merit, and from accommodation to empowerment. Our teams are building an inclusive culture where individuals are respected and valued for their potential,” the CHRO said.
The initiative underscores Blue Dart’s broader commitment to building a diverse workforce while aligning inclusion with operational excellence and business growth.
